Your browser deserves better than a sad blank page with each new tab, right?

If like me you spend hours in front of your screen juggling between millions of tabs, here is a little extension that will give a real boost to your daily browsing.

It's called Flowtideand it's an open source extension that transforms each new tab into a real zen and minimalist workspace. Of course, I'm not talking about yet another weather widget or live wallpaper that will drain all your CPU resources like the legendary screen saver did.Flying Toasters' on Windows 98 (real people know).

1st point that caught my eye (the famous “point in your face” so to speak), the refined design like 'less is more'. With each new tab, you are greeted with a beautiful wallpaper that changes daily. No hidden ads, no cluttered interface, just enough to make you want to stay productive without tearing your eyes out.

Another asset of Flowtide is its magical search bar (and no, I'm not talking about the one that suggests you buy unicorn socks on Amazon). Prefixed with a simple '/', it becomes your personal command center. You can create Google documents, run calculations, search in your favorites… all this without leaving your new tab. The developers named it Magic Searchand for once, it's not abusive marketing.

For those addicted to todo lists (you know, those lists you make on Monday morning with the enthusiasm of a golden retriever in front of a ball, and which you forget by Tuesday), Flowtide integrates a minimalist to-do list directly into your new tab. That way, there's no more excuse to forget to subscribe to my Patreon or to respond to this ultra urgent email received three weeks ago.

On the customization side, it's like Lego since you can adapt the interface to your needs and the developers have even thought of integrating relaxing soundscapes for those who like to work to music without finding themselves headbanging to Norwegian metal (although, it can be productive too).

The extra cheese on the pizza (because the cherry and the cake are too mainstream), is that Flowtide is completely open source. You can therefore dig into the code, suggest improvements, or even fork the project if you feel like it.

Installation is also simple: go to the store of your favorite browser passing by there (Firefox for real computer scientists, Chrome and its derivatives for others), click on install, and that's it. No complex configuration, no account to create, no newsletter to subscribe to to receive the “10 best tips to optimize your productivity” (9 of which you already know).

There you have it, if you're tired of new tab pages that look like a ducasse in the 59, Flowtide might just become your new favorite extension.

A big thank you to Lorenper for the discovery!
