Friends of the Club Dorothée years, take out your tissues and prepare to dive back into your childhood memories! Thanks to Letsar, loyal reader of korben.info, I have just discovered a great documentary which retraces the historical return of our Dorothy nationally on the Olympia stage in 2010. It’s a bit old but the documentary was released very recently on YouTube and retraces a very touching human adventure.

Remember: in 1997, it was the brutal end of Club Dorothée on TF1. Overnight, the woman who had accompanied an entire generation disappeared from the screens. 14 years radio silence ensued, during which she granted very few interviews and made rare appearances on television. An eternity for the millions of fans who had grown up with her.

But in 2010, the unthinkable happened: Dorothée announced her return to the stage at the Olympia. A real media earthquake which will trigger an unprecedented wave of emotions.

The documentary therefore immerses us in the preparations for this return, between stress and emotions. We discover an artist as professional as ever but terribly anxious. She confides that she “afraid of everything: of a memory lapse, of a broken voice, of not living up to what the public expects.

The behind-the-scenes sequences are particularly touching and show meticulous work with a whole new group of musicians, intense rehearsals until the last hours, a technical team of 50 highly mobilized people and of course a perfectionist artist who doubts but who knew how to keep this intact flame.

One of the most touching moments is the surprise appearance of his former accomplices like François Corbier who goes on stage for an improvised duet but also Jackie came behind the scenes to share this historic moment. In short, a reunion of rare authenticity.

And the evening of the first concert, there was an explosion and Dorothée herself was surprised by the reaction of the public. In the room, we find nostalgic thirty-somethings moved to tears who have come to relive their childhood but also parents who share their memories with their children.

This shows us to what extent Dorothée has marked French popular culture, with her 58 Bercy (!!! a record still unequaled to this day!!!) and a unique and privileged relationship with his audience which has lasted for all these years.

In short, great documentary for fans, even those who don’t take responsibility and who have become grumpy since Club Dorothée stopped.
